ASU - The nations TOP athletic program!

How cool is this for Sun Devil fans... ASU was just named  the "nation's top athletic program" by Sports Illustrated! Funny, I have been thinking a lot lately about how excited I am for this years football season to get started. I am looking forward to see the results from Dennis Erickson's  first full year of recruiting. So far, it sounds like they have some pretty good commitments.

Special congrats go out to ASU's three national championship teams from softball and men's and women's indoor track and field.

Oh yeah, if any one is keeping track, UofA came in 22nd place.

Phoenix Business Journal to feature Light Rail

Light Rail fans might want to make sure and take a look at the upcoming, May 16 issue of the Phoenix Business Journal. They will be doing a feature called "Block by Block by Light Rail" which sounds pretty darn cool.. Our friend Karen sent us this brief description of what to expect..

"The Phoenix Business Journal has a 20-page pullout, Block by Block by Light Rail, coming out May 16. The section focuses on businesses and neighborhoods near light rail stops. There's a feature on transit oriented development (TODs), Apache Boulevard and coverage of businesses that have actually survived construction hassles. The Business Journal also spoke to a number of those in the Phoenix business community about if they think light rail will change the city. The section also includes a list of landmarks near light rail that will be undergoing renovation, a light map, and a time line on the history of Phoenix commuter rail."

Stay tuned.. By the end of the summer, Rail Life will begin to roll out our community pages, hotel pages, shopping pages, sports pages etc., complete with searchable mapping capabilities, line section information, park and ride information and all kinds of really cool "stuff" for you to enjoy. Stick around Phoenix... "Your Life Is On The Line!"

ASU spring game and select a seat this Saturday!

I am loving this time of year! The Diamondback's are off to a good start, the Sun's are beginning their playoff games and we get an early look at the Devil's this weekend! If you are an ASU football fan, come check out the annual "Spring Game" beginning at approximately 12:30.  (Gates open at 11:30) This is also an opportunity for fans to select their seats for the upcoming season. You are a Sundevil fan, right?
As a sports fan, I can't wait for light rail to open. The stops near ASU, Chase Field and US Airways Center are going to be a great way to get to these venues for a lot of people.
Last weekend, I caught a game at Chase and couldn't help but think about how the rail line will be packed with people this time next year. As an ASU football season ticket holder, I know the parking situation isn't ideal for everyone. How cool for me to be able to use a park n ride station and not have to worry about the traffic after the game? For the students at the ASU Downtown campus, light rail is going to rock!
Want to know to coolest part about these three teams? It is going to be OUR job to let people know the schedules, the best way to get there, and to follow along for the ride! Our sports page at Rail Life should be ready for sneak peaks pretty soon. You are going to love it! :-)
We hope to see you around! At Rail Life, we are sports fans and "Our Life, Is On The Line!
