I often tour the high rise and mid-rise developments in and around Tempe Town Lake and the Mill Avenue District. Of course, one of the topics of interest when I speak with some of the people and developers in these areas is Light Rail. There is a real excitement in the air and a true feeling that the Light Rail Line will be beneficial to residents of so many of the new "Urban" developments in Tempe and in Phoenix. Soon, we will be doing a series of posts detailing many of these new and exciting communities. Much of what we hear from developers, sales associates and the public is centered on a lifestyle that most Phoenicians are not familiar with. While it is true that the Light rail has many critics and some people still think it was a "scam", the fact remains that it is coming! Political beliefs aside, the fact that it WILL be built is reason enough for people to give it a chance and to allow many of these new residents an opportunity to take advantage of a lifestyle that has never before been available in our sprawling city.
